TOO CASUAL FOR ME

While traveling along Silas Creek Parkway one day, I happened to notice a vinyl sign near a church building that read, "Casual dress, Casual worship." Now, I understand that the community church concept is to appeal to all aspects of the needs of the community, so the idea of casual dress is not particularly offensive.  But, the phrase "Casual worship" was offensive to me.

When we read in Ephesians 1:22-23 Paul's inspired description of the relationship that exists between Jesus and the church, we see that this relationship is compared to the close ties of the head and body.  When we begin to approach God in worship we are reminded we should stand in awe of the sacrifice that enabled us to come before God with boldness and courage. Every time we participate in the Lord's Supper, we are also reminded that Jesus  died for us.

Knowing the relationship we have with the Father is predicated on our relationship with the Son (2 John 9), and that His sacrifice, death, burial and resurrection is memorialized in the Supper on the Lord's Day, how can anyone treat this weekly event as casual?
