THANKSGIVING
[THANKS-FOR-GIVING]

Thanksgiving holds many memories for me.  As a child I remember all the smells of the day.  My mother would put the turkey in the oven either the night before or very early in the wee hours of the morning. To be awakened by the smell of pumpkin pie and roast turkey and coffee brewing on the stove [yes, do you remember when coffee was  brewed on the stove?], has no equal.  Though we were a poor family, my parents pulled out all the culinary stops for  this special day.  What a paradox to be thankful for being poor?  Oh, no, we might not have had much in this world's estimation, but we didn't seem to mind it much.

There is a song that we sing, called, "Count Your Blessings."  The intent of the song seems to indicate that no matter what may befall you in your Christian Walk, God is always nearby to help in time of need.  How many times in our lives have we been confronted with the need for a power much greater than our selves.  We need to count our blessings every day for the love that God has shown us that we are NOT aware of. We know that we are not always as thankful as we should be.  At the very least  we ought to be thankful to God that He sent His Son to die for us, that we should say, "Thanks, for Giving!"
