HOW TO MAKE WORSHIP SATISFYING AND ENJOYABLE
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to
worship him. God is a spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit
and Truth.” (John 4:23, 24).
We are commanded to worship God, let us learn to make the
worship more meaningful, beneficial, and enjoyable. Here are a few suggestions that will help.
-
Learn
the purpose for coming together, and the object of our worship.
-
Understand
that the worship is not for amusement or for carnal enjoyment, but to honor
and praise God in worship and learning to put His word to use.
-
Come
wanting to learn and to enjoy the worship, come expecting to be benefited.
-
Come
early and find a seat near the front so that there will be a minimum of
distraction; be quiet and meditate in the moments before worship begins.
-
Try
not to distract others in this meditation period or the worship service
itself. WE HAVE NOT ASSEMBLED TO HEAR THE LATEST, BUT TO THINK THE PUREST!
-
Enter
enthusiastically into every part of the service! Sing and pray from the depths of your heart!
Partake of the Lord’s Supper with a mind fastened in sympathy to
the Christ who was crucified for you. Study
and listen to God’s word, the manna of your soul and the water of life.
Feast and grow on God’s Word.
-
As
the service is over, determine what changes you are going to make in your
life as a result of hearing God’s Word.
What lesson have you learned that you have not fully applied?
What will you be able to teach others as a result of the lesson?
Meditate on it, prove it from the Bible, teach it to others, and live
it yourself.
-
When
you are leaving, be warm, friendly to those about you.
Visit with your fellow Christians.
Notice the stranger and make him feel welcome as his soul may be
hungry. Help him to be eager to
come back and feed his soul.
