FALL

Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year.  The change in the temperature signals fond memories of earlier times.  I played a lot of sports over the years and football was my favorite.  I suppose that the best part of football was that you could beat up on someone and not get arrested for it (just a joke).  Going to WVU football games was a great treat.  I still remember the smells of coffee, not dogs and popcorn (maybe eating all that food was the best thing about football?).

The Fall foliage in North Carolina is marvelous this time of year. Looking out my window in my office I can see reds, yellows, greens and golds on display.  However, the sad part is that it signifies the process of dying.  As we travel on our journey of life we must realize that we are dying as well.

Some are afraid to die.  One of the reasons for their fear is that they don't have a proper relationship with God.  When one submits to the will of the Father and becomes obedient to His plan of salvation, one is given the promise of an eternal reward, if he is found faithful until death (Re. 2:10b).  If one is "walking in the light" (I Jn. 1:7) then he has nothing to be afraid of.

We should recognize that dying is just another part of living.  If you want to enjoy your twilight years, you should prepare yourself now to enter that heavenly realm.
