REASONS FOR A GOSPEL MEETING

The Need For Outreach. Scripture commands that we are to preach the Gospel to the whole world.  "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)  It is obvious that there are several ways to interpret "Go," but whatever method we choose, we must still go!  The gospel meeting with L.D. Willis is one way in which we can "go" into the community.  Our Elders have chosen to advertise this meeting using the "House To House, Heart To Heart" magazine.  HTH is an excellent way to bring the Gospel into 6500 households in the Lewisville-Clemmons area.  We have had several comments from the residents who receive the bi-monthly paper, and others have visited as a result of its content. Brother Willis will be bringing several lessons that will be focused on the Lost.  Isn't that our goal, to reach the lost?  We trust that all will invite their friends and neighbors to this outreach effort.

The Need For Edification. It is fascinating for me to sit and listen to brethren from around the world who share their experiences and illustrations that enable me to learn more about God's word.  Every preacher is different and has had different life experiences.  Even the inspired writers of the Old and New Testament told the same stories with occasional variations in their focus.  Micah and Isaiah were contemporaries who preached the same message: the downfall of Judah, but related their prophecies differently.  It is only John who names the servant of the High Priest: Malchus, while Matthew, Mark, and Luke do not.  We can certainly learn from all who fill the pulpit and teach sound doctrine, and it will be available to you, two weeks from today.

The question is, will we take advantage of the opportunity?
