CHOICES!!

“Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.  Abraham dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.” (Gen. 13:11-12)

Choices are important!  Sometimes our whole future can depend on the choice we make.  It may not seem important at the time, but choosing between right and wrong is always important!  Lot’s fatal choice lost him Abraham’s good influence, subjected him to many temptations, put his family in a wicked environment, and cost him his wife, children, possessions, and much shame.

It is said that at the top of geographical areas known as Continental Divides, a matter of inches decides which direction the water will flow. There is a house in New York between Westfield and Mayville on which when it rains the water that falls on one side of its roof flows into the Great Lakes and the water that falls on the other side of its roof flows into the Gulf of Mexico. So it is our choices that determine our direction in life!

When facing choices, let us always seek God’s direction and be willing to accept it.  Let us not be blinded by possible immediate results, but look at long-range effects.  Let us like Joshua choose for ourselves and our families above all to serve God (Joshua 24:15).  Let us attempt with His help to place ourselves in the best environment possible conducive to our spiritual welfare. (Matthew 6:33).
