WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?
Our Fishers of Men evangelism program is
just two weeks away. I hope that you have set aside the time that will be
needed to fully absorb all that will be taught. We need to give it our
all.
One stumbling-block in evangelism is that many are afraid to talk to someone about religion. The Fishers of Men evangelism program enables you to find avenues of shared interest and commonality that will insure a less confrontational situation. You might be standing in a super-market near another at a check-out line. You might comment on the front page of the current tabloid that usually contains some story line that is religious in nature. If the other person responds favorably to you, you might say something like, "Well, the Bible says…" Your conversation might then lead to an invitation to study the Bible together.
Another reason that many are afraid to talk to another about religion is that they do not feel that they can carry a conversation based on religious knowledge. Let me tell you, the sure cure for that is Bible study. You don't have to memorize the New Testament to be a good soul winner, [been a while since you heard that one] but it is extremely helpful if you memorized key verses that are applicable to the topics you might study with another. 2 Timothy 2:15 informs us that we must study to be approved of God. Study will also enable us to have more confidence in our teaching abilities. What are you afraid of?
