REBORN
Spring is a time of rebirth and
regeneration. For many people it is their favorite time of year. I
grew up in West Virginia where winters were cold and long. You just could not
wait for the days of short-sleeved shirts. What is known as
"America's pastime," Baseball, begins its regular season in
early April. Again, you have the feeling of something starting over or
anew.
As you drive down the road you see may people cutting their lawns and planting
flowers and shrubs. Trees are beginning to blossom and bud. It is if
the planet is getting a second chance at life.
Paul told the Ephesians, "Eph 2:1 And
you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins." The
word "quickened," here, means to "make alive." Like
plants that die, but come back in the Spring, so it is somewhat with the soul of
man. Paul says that we were dead, but Christ has made us come alive!
What do we do to make our plants some alive and stay alive?
· We make sure that they are planted well. Rom 6:5 For if we have been
planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in
the likeness of his resurrection:
· We make sure that it is watered. 1 Cor 3:6 I have planted, Apollos
watered;
· We then will know that we will prosper 1 Cor 3:6 but God gave the
increase.
If we follow these "tips" our service to the Lord Jesus Christ will be
a prosperous one.
