PALM SUNDAY
Palm Sunday is a traditional time
celebrated by the religious world. It often is a time of joy that
commemorates the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on the first day of the
week preceding the crucifixion. John 12:13, "Took branches of palm
trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of
Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord."
Again we find another instance of the religious world glorifying a particular
event on an annual basis. That Jesus came into Jerusalem to give His life
for us all is an event that ought to be part of our daily prayers.
March 27, the next Lord's Day, is the observance of Easter in the religious
world. As with Easter, we find that there will be many visitors in our
midst as well as many of our number, who come sporadically. As children of
God we need to have a daily awareness of our service to Him that is seen in our
daily obedience. We must ask ourselves, "Will God accept my sporadic
attendance to worship Him? Will God accept my minimal service to
Him?" If we truly believe he will, then we are deceiving ourselves.
Paul said, "Be not deceive, God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap." We need to serve God faithfully, every
day of our lives.
