WEATHER

Every evening television news programs feature at least one segment on the weather.  The time is used during the weather potion to review what happened that day with all the necessary data such as temperature, wind direction, barometric pressure, etc.  Sometimes the jet stream is prominently displayed on the weather map and discussed.  At the end of the segment the local meteorologist (weather man or women) will then tell us what will happen for the next several days (usually between 5 and 7).  It is an impressive event.

If you tune in the next evening you are treated to another round of the same, except for the days when new date has caused a change in the extended forecast.  This was the scenario last week in the days leading up top our winter storm.  We heard freezing rain was coming.  Later it was freezing rain or sleet, and maybe a little snow mixed in.

That is the problem with predicting things, the important factors are subject to unforeseen changes which can alter the outcome.  There is one future event we can know about with certainty - the judgment.  We do not know when it will be for Jesus said its occurrence will come unannounced like a thief in the night (Matthew 24:43-44).  We do know it is coming for Jesus told us about it in Matthew 25:31ff.  His coming will be “in his glory” accompanied by angels.  This is the same event mentioned by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10.  Paul wrote, “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.”  He will be glorified by the saints and will punish those who are not His own.
