LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE,
THE GOSPEL IN A WORD IS LOVE!

So go the lyrics of a notable camp and VBS song.  These words ring true when we examine the Scriptures.  Our willingness to serve God and bring the saving Gospel to our friends, neighbors, co-workers and acquaintances is predicated on the basis of our love for them.  The ones we truly love ought to be the first ones we approach with the word of God that is able to save their soul (Romans 1:16).

This past Valentine’s Day was celebrated by millions of couples that are in love, both young and old alike.  It is not uncommon to see men leaving florist shops with handfuls of flowers for their sweetheart.  I remember one year I brought flowers to my wife’s office and got down on my knees and sang to her for such a special occasion.  I wanted to do something special to show my appreciation to her for all the years we’ve had together and all the years to come.

Twenty-five years ago I made a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ to give my life for Him, as He had done for me.  Twenty-three years ago, Carla and I decided to commit ourselves toward ministering to the Lord’s church in a greater capacity.  I wanted to preach so that I could be a greater vessel of service for Jesus.  This was a result of our love for Him.  You see, the Gospel, in a word, is Love!
