“YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH…”

In the past weeks I have received several e-mails that contained information that was intended to solicit some  response from me.  My past experience in these matters has made me somewhat cynical.  I am sure that the  senders were innocent in sending the e-mails, but we must exercise a degree of caution when we seek to inform  others and do our best to make sure that what we are convey, is the truth.  When we fail to do so, we may open  ourselves up to criticism.  The Christian must always be the purveyor of truth, no matter what the form.  We don’t  need our co-workers, friends and relatives thinking that we are alarmists that communicate falsehoods!  This could  greatly diminish our credibility with them and others that received the information.

The truth is extremely important when studying with others.  If someone would ask me a question that I did not know the answer, I would rather say, “I don’t know the answer to that question, but let me get back to you at a later time.”  Many is the time that I have seen some Christians attempting to answer a question when they did not know the answer, yet they gave a response that they were not sure or one that someone else had given.  When we lose credibility with our audience, it may take a long time to regain it. Let us always strive to be purveyors of truth and glorify God in our communication.
